ALBANY, LA – Former State Representative Sherman Mack has officially announced his candidacy for District Attorney of the 21st Judicial District, encompassing Livingston, St. Helena and Tangipahoa Parishes.

Mack is a lifelong resident of Livingston Parish who has 25 years of civil and criminal litigation experience. While serving in the legislature Mack was the chairman of the Louisiana House of Representatives Criminal Justice Committee where he helped Jeff Landry keep the death penalty in Louisiana and lead the fight to keep New Orleans from being declared a sanctuary city. Mack also authored numerous pieces of pro law enforcement legislation as well as legislation attempting to keep carbon capture out of Livingston, St. Helena, and Tangipahoa Parishes.

A proven leader in the legislature, Mack worked on legislation sponsored by the Louisiana District Attorney’s Association and was graded with an “A+” rating by the Louisiana Sheriffs and Deputies Political Action Committee. Mack was also named Outstanding Family Advocate by the Louisiana Family Forum and an All-Star and MVP Policy Maker by the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry.
Mack said “A District Attorney must be firm when necessary, compassionate when warranted, but above all honest and devoted to the people he or she serves. I believe my 25 years of service as an attorney, legislator, and community leader uniquely qualify me to be our next District Attorney.”

Mack and his wife Angela have been married for thirty years. They have three sons—Chris, Chase, and Connor.

A graduate of Holden High School and Southeastern Louisiana University, where he attended on a basketball scholarship and graduated in 1995, Mack later earned a Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in 1999. Beyond his service as an attorney and legislator, Mack also served as the junior high basketball coach at St. Joseph School located in Ponchatoula and was a youth basketball coach in Albany and Ponchatoula.

“I owe the people of Livingston, St. Helena, and Tangipahoa so much. I humbly ask for the opportunity to serve as your next District Attorney.”
